Collegium paedagogicum, a mixed choir of the Faculty of Education, Charles University, started its activity in 1993. Later it also began to perform as a concert choir of the Music department. At present, the majority of the ensemble's 80 members are students of music education, but there are also students from other disciplines and faculties, including foreign students.
The choir regularly performs at festive occasions of the Faculty and Charles University, often in cooperation with the String Orchestra of the Music Department, and also regularly participates in educational concerts of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Recently the choir has been actively cooperating with choirs from foreign universities, e.g. the Humboldt University (DE), the University of Heidelberg (DE), Aberdeen (SCT) or Warsaw (PL). In 2019 it was the absolute winner of the international competition Akademická Banská Bystrica and in 2023 it won the category of academic choirs at the international competition Svátky písní Olomouc (CZ).
The choir has a rich repertoire of important works by Czech and international composers of all styles. In the past it has performed Bach's Magnificat, Haydn's Creation, Mozart's Requiem, Verdi's Requiem, Dvořák's Te Deum, Stabat Mater, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Orff's Carmina Burana, Poulenc's Stabat Mater, Martinů's Bouquet and others. Among his most important artistic achievements are his performances at the Czech premiere of Hanuš's oratorio Ecce homo at the Prague Spring Festival in 2005 and at the world premiere of Hanuš's Requiem at the Rudolfinum in 2009.
