Mladosť is a representative artistic ensemble of Matej Bel University and its activities build on the traditions of choral singing, which began to take shape in the academic environment of Banská Bystrica as early as 1960. In 1969, the Mladosť choir was established, which has been continuously active to the present day. Its activities are associated with names such as Dezider Strmeň, František Šupín, Sylva Janíčková, Tibor Sedlický, Darina Turoňová, Hana Kováčová, Alfonz Poliak, Barbora Brossová Lipková, Monika Bažíková, Peter Bibza and Milan Pazúrik, who was the conductor for an incredible 41 years.
During its existence, the choir has performed numerous times at home and abroad. The strength of the choral tradition led to the birth of the international symposium on choral singing Cantus Choralis Slovaca and the establishment of the international festival of academic choirs Akademická Banská Bystrica. Currently, the choir operates at the Center for Art and Culture of the Faculty of Education of the Matej Bel University and its conductor is Leonóra Súdiová.
