MgA. Gabriel Rovňák, Ph.D. is a graduate of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, in the class of Jan Zbavitel. He was also a private student of Ondrej Lenárd and Otakar Trhlík. He completed the conducting master classes of Zsolt Nagy and Martin Turnovský. He has been singing in the Bratislava Boys' Choir since childhood. He graduated from the Bratislava Conservatory in the class of Július Karaba with the title of "Best Graduate". During his conducting career, he has collaborated with many orchestras (Slovak Philharmonic, Slovak National Theatre Opera, Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, State Philharmonic Košice, State Chamber Orchestra Žilina and others) and with the Bratislava Boys' Choir. He has performed with the choir in many European countries, as well as in the USA, Canada and Taiwan. The ensemble collaborates with the Slovak Philharmonic, SND Opera, RTVS and other prestigious institutions at home and abroad. The Bratislava Boys' Choir, which he leads with his mother, Magdaléna Rovňáková, is a recipient of many awards.
Gabriel Rovňák is also the author of a biographical publication, exhibitions and a multimedia application about conductor Zdeněk Košler.
He is the author, conductor and presenter of the largest national music-educational series "The Story of Music", which is watched by tens of thousands of young people throughout Slovakia. In 2023, Gabriel was nominated for the prestigious "Crystal Wing" award for this project. Gabriel Rovňák is also an internal teacher at the Faculty of Music of the JAMU in Brno and a member of juries at international choir competitions.
